• Nebraska Rancher Seeks Markets for Bison

Stories are still told about the prairie -- black with enormous herds of bison in the days before the plow broke the plains. The source for sustaining life in the West was hunted to the precipice of extinction. Late last month, in a rare moment of bipartisanship, Congress voted to honor the animal integral to the settling of this country. If the president signs the bill, the bison will become the nation’s first official mammal. But work has already begun to add to the herds of this majestic animal. And late last fall, producer Josh Buettner found one farmer on a quest to revive an Old West icon.
